Nintendo is a billion-dollar Japanese gaming company most known for their family-friendly consoles and arcade games. The company could substantially increase their number of US investors by creating a more digestible and engaging repackaging of their current annual report, as has been the trend with many other companies in the tech and consumer goods industries.
This project was an exploration of Adobe XD and it’s UI prototyping features. While not every page was completed to its full extent, the project still highlights several keys strengths:
Numbers made Fun – Investing is boring. Let’s admit it. And the younger generations don’t seem to handle boring very well. One strength of this design is that it allows for the site to still be very informative and insightful while engaging the viewers that may not care as much. For those that do care, you can click in for more information under each topic and it would give you a full report. For those that need the extra stimulus, a pull out video reel will highlight key milestones and the short headers in front will give the most important statistic of all: “you made money off your investment this year.”
Audience Awareness – I picked Nintendo particularly for this project because they currently have a very dense corporate feel to their information even though a huge portion of their target consumer audience is young upper-middle-class individuals. I believe these consumers are certainly capable of becoming investors as well. Presenting the report via the brand they already love would help attract this group.
Design Pitching – I will admit, Adobe XD is certainly not my favorite UI tool. However, being able to push my design far enough to explain it to a programmer regardless of the tool’s limitations is really important. This was my main focus here as I learned the new program. I was not necessarily looking to produce a flawless final project, but instead, show my range of creativity even when dealing with constraints.
