My project was in the middle of the approval process when COVID-19 quarantine began and all projects for the year were canceled. As Cincinnati is a city of murals, my plan was to create a mural on the parking lot side of the new communications building. The design was to be simple, clean, and professional while taking on the subjects of community and allyship. While not all Legacy Projects were physical, I felt this was the best use of my skills as it would be a constant reminder to each student as they’d walk past it in the morning as to what they stood for as students of a Jesuit institution. Moreover, it was increasingly symbolic that it would be on the communications building as the students that would see it the most would be those who are going into a complicated and morally complex field where their voice is of utmost importance.
